[About the actual machine]
The B-17 was one of the most advanced heavy bombers of the United States Army Air Corps, active before and throughout World War II.
Its first flight was successful in 1935 and it went into service in 1938.
Equipped with four 1,200 horsepower Wright Cyclone engines, it was a masterpiece heavy bomber, boasting heavy armament including 12.7mm M2 machine guns, excellent bulletproof equipment, and a range of over 3,000 km when loaded with bombs.
It was primarily used for strategic bombing missions against German forces on the European front, crossing the English Channel from bases in Britain and invading deep into the German mainland.
It performed remarkably well, damaging Germany's industrial power and contributing to its surrender.
More than 12,000 B-17s, known as the "Flying Fortress," were produced, including the B-17F, which appeared in 1942.
The engine was a more powerful R1820-97 Cyclone, producing 1,380 horsepower, and the number of fuel tanks was increased, extending the range and allowing for an increased bomb load.

This is a 1/72 scale plastic model assembly kit of the B-17 F, a large bomber developed and operated by the United States during World War II.
The finished overall length is 313mm, over 30cm, recreating the power of a large aircraft.

-The markings were selected from those of aircraft belonging to the United States Army Air Forces' 8th Air Force, which was stationed in Britain during the war.
