Product Description
Introducing a completely new 1/144 scale injection-molded Nordenfeld II steam-propelled submarine kit from Micromill of Ukraine.
The Nordenfeldt submarine was developed and built for the Ottoman Navy by Swedish inventor Thorsten Nordenfeldt and British inventor George Garrett.
The ship was launched in 1886 and its first submersion took place in 1887.
The ship then sank the target ship with the first underwater torpedo attack in history. Although the crew had to shut down the boilers and retract the funnels when submerged, the ship was able to store steam in accumulator tanks while on the surface and use it to power its engines when submerged, allowing it to travel underwater for short periods of time.
Although it was revolutionary technology for the time, it lacked speed and range, and its unstable navigation made accurate torpedo firing difficult, making it unsuitable for combat use.
The kit comes with etched parts and a display stand.
When completed, the total length will be approximately 208mm.
