Product Description
Introducing the completely new 1/72 scale Short SB.6 SeaMew from Czech Sword.
The SeaMew was a British prototype carrier-based anti-submarine patrol aircraft that first flew in 1953.
This aircraft was a single-engine aircraft equipped with an Armstrong Siddeley Mamba turboprop engine, and the cockpit was located as close to the front of the nose as possible to ensure visibility, with the anti-submarine radar mounted directly below the nose.
Because this layout did not allow wheels to be stored under the nose, a tailwheel landing gear was adopted, and the main and tail landing gear were fixed to simplify the aircraft structure and reduce weight.
For carrier-based service, the wings could be folded from the outboard positions of the main landing gear.
The armament consisted of torpedoes and depth charges in the bomb bay located inside the fuselage, and rockets and small bombs could be mounted on the wing pylons.
Developed as a lightweight and inexpensive aircraft, only 19 were produced due to the disbanding of the RNVR (Naval Volunteer Reserve), which was scheduled to deploy the aircraft, due to defense budget cuts.
The kit comes with a paint mask sticker and two types of decals.
When completed, the total length will be approximately 174mm and the total width will be approximately 233mm.
The Sword kit has good detail with fine negative molding on the panel lines.
The included decals are also of very high quality and have good coloring.
