The M24 Chaffee light tank was a light tank used by the United States during World War II, and its nickname, "Chaffee," is derived from General Adona R. Chaffee Jr.
In 1941, a prototype of the T7 light tank was developed with the aim of succeeding the M3/M5 light tanks by equipping it with a 75mm tank gun and heavy armor.
