The C59 type passenger steam locomotive continued to be manufactured even after World War II.
Although they had many glorious roles, such as pulling express trains on major trunk lines, the progress of electrification and the elimination of steam locomotives was unexpectedly rapid, and surplus units became available just about six years after production ended.
Although some were modified into the C60 type to allow them to operate on lower-standard lines, their numbers had drastically decreased by the 1970s.
And their final battleground was the Kure Line, where these three cars gathered.
On the Kure Line, it also led express trains such as the Aki and Ondo.
This continued until just before the electrification of the Kure Line.
In our models, we will strive to reproduce as accurately as possible the unique characteristics of each locomotive, No. 161, No. 162, and No. 164, not only in terms of differences in the front wheels and the presence or absence of skylights in the cab, but also in every detail.
