Sugumi on Fairylion
Tomeko's today's topic is about an effeminate machine out of the Play Station RPG "Super Robot Wars," simply assembled, no frills attached.

First, I want you people to please get a load of this.

Fairylion Sugumi Completed

You may not believe this, but this model looks this good by being merely assembled, "Sugumi" fashion.
If you are not too familiar with this "Sugumi" business, give this a read first.

This is actually a cooperative work done by HOBBY SEARCH staff, me included. Some of our staff are expert at building those, while others, like myself, are not quite nearly as experienced, but we've all had fun and I guess that's what counts after all.

All you need for a "Sugumi" of this sort of model is a Side Cutter and a Modeler`s Knife of Tamiya.

And now, let's delve into the world of simple assembly, shall we? It may turn out to be a little less simple and more intriguing than it sounds at first.

As could have been expected of Fairylion, many of the parts included in this model are rugged and jagged, like the west coasts of Norway viewed from the Hubble Space Telescope.

ragged parts

Some of them are so small you have a hard time finding them once you drop them on the floor. While tackling with this item today, I did in fact do exactly that...twice.
Desperately looking for the lost parts while my colleagues were waiting to proceed with the assembling process was not very comfortable.

Let's be careful when you work on plastic models of relatively small sizes.
And let's remember NOT to let small children handle these small parts alone, because there's always the danger of kids swallowing them!

Well, this is what it looks like before being assembled.

constituent parts

Simply putting those parts together doesn't take up much time of your busy schedule, and yet what comes out as a result comes out very very fine, mainly due to the perfectibility of each of the constituent parts.

Remember, this is just a "Sugumi," meaning no painting, no touching up on the details, no nothing. Too good to be true!
The real icing on the cake with this robo-girl is that you can make her take the poses you like, thanks to its movable joints and the display stand.

Incidentally, shown below is her "skirt" part taken apart from the body portion. Kind of reminds me of a turtle crawling on back.

Enough yackety-yak for a day, I think.
See you again! Matane!!
