I always end up doing product intros according to my taste...and today will be no different.
Movie Masterpiece [300] Spartan King Leonidas
For those that thought "what's up, a figure of a dude?", please lemme explain.
[300]
It's a movie that was on about 2 years ago, about a bunch of
super muscular men roaring and raging about, a story of unequalled machoness.
The stage is ancient Greek. The boasting its army with equal strength to that of the Athens, the kingdom of Sparta.
Enduring a rough, brutal education based on the idea of "survival of the fittest", their army was top class power back then.
And then comes the Persian emperor Xerxes the First, beginning their expedition. Sending envoys around the cities of Greek and urging them to surrender under the great
army.
BUT, our King Leonidas won't let such stupidity! He would roar
[THIS IS SPARTA!!]
and reject the unwanted visitors. The scene of him kicking the envoy into a hole was well advertised, so may be you might have seen it.
This was the beginning of what was later named the Battle of Thermopylae.
Right, moving on.
This is an action figure, so you can recreate your favorite scenes.
Please enjoy the wonderful Leonidas rioting about with his macho-ness.
Now, in this battle, there are many issues surrounding it, allowing for only 300 soldiers to be mobilized as the army, and they had to take on the great Persian army of
1million. This 1,000,000 is a great number, and there must have been a great deal of tension and nervousness within the Spartans. I think what is important is the courage
involved in this, having to face such overwhelming number with only 300men.
Of course, they didn't fight on an open plain just because they believed they were the strongest, but chose to lure the opposition to the road between the sea and mountain
(Thermopylae), fighting with land advantage.
Fighting on a road with only 15meters at narrowest parts, this road blocked the Persian army's horse rider units, and the Spartans took the Persians down with their great
"Phalanx Formation".
This Phalanx. It has no mobility what so ever, plus its only strong on the front, so it cannot be used in a open space. However, it shown a superb strength against all
frontal attacks.
This battle continued day and night, the Spartans held off the Persians for a night, two night, and on the third and final night...
I guess we will leave it to here.
Lets enjoy the quality of the helm of Leonidas, and sides of his face.
The quality of the man himgelf is great, but OMG the metal looks soooo real!
The Movie Masterpiece series from Hot Toys are slightly expensive, but the quality is well worth the price, so they are extremely popular amongst the fans.
And lastly.
A while from the period of King Leonidas, the Spartans went against Athens and taken Greece.
......but.
This caused reduction of the amount of armor and weaponry, which limited their number of soldiers, and in result, the weakening the army, which directly resulted in
weakening of the country.
This left me wondering to this day, what is a strong army?
So I thought I will do 50 sit-ups when I get home.
Hah, hah *deep breathing*
