Those Cute Guys from the Tales of Agriculture, Now in Mame Revo!
Moyashimon (Moyasimon: Tales of Agriculture outside of Japan) is a manga series that's hugely popular among all kinds of people, both young and old.
Even people who don't normally read manga or watch anime seem to know about the little bacteria.

The manga began in 2004 and the anime series first aired in 2007.
Now a live action TV series is about to air beginning on July 8, and is bringing even more attention to this craze.
I can't wait for the world's first B-drama (Bacteria drama).

And from Kaiyodo, new figures of this hit series are on the way!

Mame Revo! Moyashimon are coming!
12 different types, sold in sets of 12! Slated for August 1!

What are Mame Revo, you ask?

Allow me to explain!
Mame Revo are tiny-sized Revoltechs with a few revolver joints that allow for a bit of movement!

In the case of these little guys, their heads are connected to their bodies with a 6mm revolver joint. You can turn and twist them to pose them however you'd like.
In addition to that, they come with a (cute pink-colored) base with another joint so you can have them floating around like they do in the manga/anime.

Kaiyodo has made various gashapons and little toys and figures of Moyashimon, and this Mame Revo line is no exception.

Brew! Come on, let's brew!
Don't you hear them already?
They're just big enough to fit on your hand. Line them up on your shoulders and head and you can be like Tadayasu too!

Let's have a look at each one, along with a little description of each bacteria.

Aspergillus oryzae
The star of the bacteria, Oryzae. Apparently he considers Tadayasu a brother or close friend and speaks to him casually.
Sometimes they combine into a giant Oryzae. I think they like to cosplay?

Aspergillus niger
Black mold. Brews with rice to make rice vinegar, but can be nasty to your health if it gets inside you.
Oryzae cosplaying in black!

A.oryzae and A.niger have five joints at their head parts, so you can enjoy even more poses with them!

Cladosporium trichoides
Also a dark mold like Aspergillus. You might know them from the black mold on bathroom tiles.
This one mostly shows up in mobs of dirty bacteria with other types.

Cladosporum trichoides (Alternate color)
This body reminds you even more of that pesky black mold.

These C.trichoides figures have rotating joints on their three head parts!

Clostridium botulinum
The source of botulism. The bacteria are encased where oxygen is present (oxygen is toxic to them) and open up in vacuums to release the deadly toxins (0.07 grams is all it takes!).
You can see this white little head crack open to release a scary looking face in Moyashimon.

Lentinula edodes
You might know this better as the shiitake mushroom. They say in Moyashimon that the name comes from the Edo time period, but that's a misconception.

Lentinula edodes (Alternate color)
A lighter color. Looks delicious.

Lactobacillus yogurti
This one's commonly found in Japanese yogurt, and that's why they gave him a chonmage (samurai hair) and have him speaking like a samurai.
Because of a change in classifications, this scientific name isn't used any more.

L.yogurti has a joint at his chonmage hair.

Penicillium chrysogenum
This one is the source of penicillin, but it's so common you won't make a killing off of cultures.

C.botulinum, L.yogurti, P.chrysogenum (Special glow-in-the-dark version)
These three glow!
This is a standard "charge" kind of glow-in-the-dark, so you need to put it under light before turning the lights off.

Let's see the glowing in action, GIF style.

Like this!
It's glowing green!
Leave it out in sunlight during the day, and it'll be a trusty illuminating bacteria at night!

Mame Revo! Moyashimon
Preorders open now!

These come in boxes of 12, but if you divide it up it's only 490 yen each.
Maybe you can split it up with some friends!
Brew up your life with these cute little bacteria!
