New ex:ride Member - Cute, Unique, Daihatsu Midget II!
Hey there everyone, this is Tominon.
My time as a non-driving licensed driver just keeps growing. I can operate pedal-powered two-wheeled vehicles, though...!

Today I'll be introducing an item I have my eyes on. (Again?)

* ex:ride SPride.02: Daihatsu Midget II

The much-loved car the "Midget II" is joining the ex:ride lineup!

The Midget II, sometimes called "the ultimate toy car," is now really a toy!
I'm falling in love with its cute body!
FREEing always has his sights on the best rides, from animal cars to in-line skates.

The actual Midget II came in two types (truck type and cargo type), but this ex:ride is the truck type (K100P).
It comes in two colors, white and emerald green, both of which were actual Midget II colors.

And of course you can put figma in the driver's seat!

The cute frog-eye-like headlights, the spare tire that's on the front for some reason, the triangular profile, and the circular mirrors are what make the Midget II the Midget II!
FREEing did an excellent job of reproducing the unique styling of the original car.
This isn't just some measly figma accessory!

The Midget II is a kei truck first released by Daihatsu in 1996.
Although it was discontinued in 2001, it still has a strong following by core fans because of its cute looks.

Most use it as a little transport to go grocery shopping, a means to commute, or as a hobby car. It'd be funny to see people all dressed for work in one of these.

The slogan at its release was "I'm proud of the way everyone looks over when I go out for a stroll."
They were really trying to sell its unique looks. Apparently kids loved it, and waved at people riding them.

It's cute like a little animal.
Instead of wanting to own a Midget II, I want to keep one as a pet.

It's small and cute, but it's not without its drawbacks.
The Midget II leaks sound in and out, has no reclining, is hot and loud because the engine's beneath the seats, the left window doesn't open, and doesn't have a radio, let alone a cassette tape player because it was made with practicality in mind, and so on.
But even these weaknesses become a part of the Midget II's cuteness.

I'm getting excited just thinking about what to put on it.
(The picture above is a sample from the Hobby Maker show.)

It was originally made to deliver things like crates of bottles or cans, so the bed is big!
You could even put a Nendoroid on here!

If you need to nap, this is the place to do it!

This ex:ride version has Midget II's sales point, the "1.5 person ride."
(You can fit two, but it's too close for comfort! So it's one person.)

So there you have it.
ex:ride SPride.02 Daihatsu Midget II, available for preorder now!

It's a little more expensive than other ex:rides, but I think it's worth it.
Take your favorite figmas for a ride!

That's all for today. See you all next time!
