Hey there everyone, this is Tominon.
I went to the movies for the first time in a while the other day.
The movie I saw was a Russian animated film whose protagonist is a boy with large ears and cute eyes,
Cheburashka.
You might have seen him around.
He looks funny, but what exactly is he?
A monkey? Nope.
A bear? Nope.
A kitchen sponge? Nope, not a sponge or ball of fuzz.
Then what is he?
Well...
It's actually unknown.
Where he came from, who he is, it's all a mystery.
But the biggest mystery of all is why Cheburashka himself doesn't even know who he is.
He wanders the streets in search of his identity.
That's so deep, and this is supposed to be children's literature!
Now a Cheburashka figure is coming from

It'd make a great Christmas gift. (But Christmas is over!)
He comes as a set with Gena the crocodile, his first friend.
His skin is fuzzy, like the doll they used for the animated film.
It's hard to resist touching figures like this. I've rubbed the fuzz off one of my favorite dolls before.
What a sorrowful looking reptile. Not a lone wolf, but a lone crocodile.

His work is to be a crocodile at the zoo for everyone to see.
He always wears this coat and tie like a gentleman, but
he takes his clothes off when he works.
It's hilarious. I want to ask him if he's really okay with that.
Cheburashka goes to the zoo to see if they'll hire him too, but they reject him because they don't know what cage to put him in.
What kind of reason is that! And isn't there anywhere else to work besides the zoo?
Children's literature can be so silly sometimes. Which is what makes it great.
Cheburashka's name comes from Russian for "tmumbled" because he tumbles over after they find him.
