――All high decker Kiha 183 series-5200 series!

- Resort Express mark printed at the time of appearance

[actual car]
- The North Rainbow Express is a resort train manufactured in 1992 as a replacement for the [Alpha Continental Express], and the nickname was decided by public offering. The guest rooms are based on elevated floors and are structured with an emphasis on the view. Lavender, blue, light green, orange, and pink theme colors are set in order of formation, giving it a colorful appearance. Measures to pass through the Seikan Tunnel have been implemented, and it is possible to enter Honshu by locomotive towing. At the beginning of its appearance, it was provisionally operated with a 3-car train, but in December 1992, Kiha 182-5251 and a double-decker Kisaha 182-5201 were added to become a 5-car train, which was used provisionally. The painting of 3 cars has been changed.
