- The Kiha 40 series belonging to the Niitsu transportation district of JR East is renewal institution, and the cooling equipment is carried on the roof.
- In 2014 Kiha 40, 47, 48 has been painted active in color that imagined the national train express color each one by one.

[Actual car guide]
- The Kiha 40 series appeared as a national rail vehicle in 1977. Some of the vehicles inherited by JR East Japan are updated with institutions and equipped with cooling equipment. Kiha 40, Kiha 47, and Kiha 48 belonging to the Niitsu Transportation District in 2014 have been repainted to the color that imagined the national iron express color for each one by one.
