- P - 63 was developed as an evolved type of P - 39 fighter aircraft which adopted the system in which the engine was installed behind the cockpit and the propeller was turned by the extension axis.
- Performance has greatly improved but it was mainly made for export as P - 51 and P - 47 were already deployed in large quantity.
