- Series 211 is a direct current suburban commuter car with three doors on one side to the stainless steel body that appeared in 1985 in the JNR era.
- Due to split privatization of JNR, it is dispersed in JR East and JR Tokai, and after that, versions based on the features of each company's routes appear.
- The 5000 series is the vehicle of the JR Tokai specification that appeared in 1988, and it is based on 4 car train formation of 2 M 2 T or 3 car train of 2 M 1 T.
