[About the actual machine]
――The F-2 fighter has been in operation since 2000 and is playing an active role as the main fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
--Started development in 1988 as a successor to the support fighter F-1.
――Based on the American masterpiece fighter F-16, the development work was carried out jointly by Japan and the United States in consideration of the operation as a Self-Defense Forces aircraft and the geographical factors of Japan.
――In addition to increasing the main wing area with the aim of improving athletic performance, we have added elements and necessary performance as a Self-Defense Forces aircraft to each part, such as weight reduction by advanced materials and structures, and developed it as a unique aircraft that suits the situation in Japan.
--In addition, the radar can be equipped with an active phased array radar to enable long-range air-to-ship missiles and ASM to be installed, as well as air-to-air radar missiles and air-to-air infrared missiles.
--First deployed to the 3rd Squadron at Misawa Base. It has also been deployed to the 6th and 8th Squadrons at Tsuiki Air Base, demonstrating its capabilities in Japan's air defense missions.
