──The yellow Shinkansen, Doctor Yellow

[Actual vehicle guide]
- The 923 series is an electric track comprehensive test car for the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen, and was manufactured in 2000 with the aim of running at 270km/h and replacing the aging 922 series.
- The seven-car train is based on the 700 series, with cars 1-3 and 6 being used for electrical equipment testing, car 4 being used for track equipment testing, and the other cars being used as meeting rooms and tour conductor's rooms.
- The color of the train is yellow with blue stripes, which is different from the regular Tokaido Shinkansen trains, and hence it is affectionately known as "Doctor Yellow."
