- The Kiha 47 type is a general-purpose diesel car for warm regions with a single cab that appeared in 1977. More than 300 cars were manufactured, mainly for the western Japan region, Kyushu and Shikoku. Nearly 100 new vehicles were installed in the Kyushu area, and all vehicles, including those transferred from other areas, were inherited by JR Kyushu.
- The Kiha 47-8000 type is a vehicle that has been updated with the engine of the Kiha 47-0 type inherited by JR Kyushu.
