──Updated underfloor equipment. 70 series and 80 series that include an adapter for coreless motor power

- The JNR 70 series is a 3-door semi-cross-seat vehicle developed for lines that combine commuting and medium-distance transportation, such as the Yokosuka Line, Keihanshin Local Line, and Chuo-to Line.
- From 1951 to 1958, control car Kuha 76, intermediate electric car Moha 70/71, and second class car Salo 46 were manufactured.
- Unlike the 80 series, which is basically composed of only the same series, the Yokosuka line has the 32 series and 42 series, the Keihanshin local line has the 51 series and 72 series, and the Chuo line has the 72 series. It was operated in a mixed formation.
- Since it was not intended to operate in long formations and was intended to be mixed with other series, the third-class accompanying car (SAHA), which had a sufficient number of vehicles, was not manufactured.
