- The HB-E300 series "Hinabi" was named with the concept of "the nature of northern Tohoku" and "regional connections" in mind, with the hope of providing a "warm and relaxing journey."
- The exterior is painted in the Morioka color scheme of red lines on a white background, commonly used on diesel railcars within the Morioka Branch Office's jurisdiction, and the design expresses the image of a train connecting different regions and the rich natural environment.
- He debuted in December 2023 and is active in both Aomori and Iwate prefectures.
- A new tourist train that has begun operating in the Tohoku region is now available in N gauge. This two-car set is suitable for operation on small layouts, and can be enjoyed together with the 701 series and existing HB-E300 series.
