Product Description

-- The Kiha 82 series express diesel car that was once active in Hokkaido!

[Actual vehicle guide]
- The Kiha 80 series was developed in 1960 as the first diesel express train, and debuted as the Hatsukari express train running between Ueno and Aomori via the Joban Line.
- In 1961, in order to build a nationwide express train network, improved vehicles were added, and the dining cars were also equipped with running engines to improve the running performance of each train unit, and the bonnet-type leading car Kiha 81 type was replaced by a leading car Kiha 82 type with a through structure that could be separated and joined together, and this group was commonly known as the Kiha 82 series.
- Although the Kiha 82-type train had a door at the front, it boasted a large panoramic window, elegant light cases, and wing-like paintwork, giving it a superior design. Because of its appearance, it was also called the "Queen" on various lines, and was used mainly on non-electrified lines throughout the country except for Shikoku.
- Starting with the express train [Oozora] between Hakodate and Asahikawa (later Kushiro), which was the first express train in Hokkaido, it was used for all express trains in the prefecture, including [Hokuto] between Hakodate and Sapporo, [Hokkai] between Hakodate and Asahikawa via Otaru, [Otori] between Hakodate and Abashiri, and [Okhotsk] between Sapporo and Abashiri.
- The Kiha 82 No. 900 was a lead car based on the early KiRo 80 cars after the Hatsukari was converted into an electric train. The side windows are characteristic of the small windows that were used in the Green Car era. Two cars were modified at the Omiya Works, and after the No. 901 and No. 902 were transferred to various locations, both were later assigned to the Sapporo Operations District and were mainly used on the Hokuto and Okhotsk limited express trains.

[point]
- The Kiha 82 Series 900 series included in the 97201 basic set reproduces the Kilo's appearance with a row of small windows with a new body
The 97200 basic set includes two late model Kiha 82s, while the 97201 Kiha 82s include one 900 series and one early model with additional air conditioning.
- The KiRo 80 type included in each basic set has a radio antenna on the roof that monitors the operation status of the Seikan Ferry, with the piping molded and the antenna itself reproduced as a separate part.
- The conductor's compartment window of the KiRo 80 series is a reproduction of a vehicle that has been modified to open inwards (97200), while 97201 is a reproduction of a vehicle with an unmodified original window.
- The Kisi 80 type included in the 97202 additional set reproduces the vehicle with additional driver's windows seen in the Hokkaido-affiliated cars.
- Each Kiha 82 series: The driver's door window reproduces the tablet protection grille characteristic of Hokkaido cars by printing
