--Feel like you're at a theme park! Shuttle Maihama!

[Actual vehicle introduction]
The Shuttle Maihama was introduced on March 10, 1990, when the Keiyo Line was extended from Shinkiba to Tokyo.
A three-car train was modified based on the 165 series from Makuhari Electric Railway Depot in order to stimulate demand for transportation to a large theme park adjacent to Maihama Station on the Keiyo Line.
The exterior has been revamped with fixed side windows, the headlights and taillights changed to rectangular combination lights, and a huge illustration of the sun has been added to the center of the side of the middle car, creating a more striking look.
The seating arrangements were quite varied, with some cars (KuHa 165-194) having all seats facing sideways towards the sea in the direction of travel, and others (MoHa 164-852) having only the centre section facing sideways in the direction of travel.
The train mainly operated as a shuttle service between Nishi-Funabashi, Maihama and Tokyo, and as it was treated as a rapid train, all cars were operated as ordinary cars.
As the journey time is relatively short, all seats are foldable and covered in vinyl leather, and all but one of the toilets and washrooms within the train have been removed, with seats installed in their places.
In December 1995, it was transferred to the Kaminumatari Operations District, its nickname was changed to "Alpha", and in July of the following year, its exterior paint was changed to a blue base.
During the summer, they were often seen in the metropolitan area, mainly in the form of various group trains.
During the winter, it was mainly used for temporary skiing in the Joetsu area, but was retired in May 2001.

Further expansion of the Micro Ace train series.
This is the first production in 18 years of the special edition 165 series train that ran directly to Maihama Station, which was introduced when the entire Keiyo Line opened in 1990!
A variation product based on A0924 (shipped in April 2007).
The power unit of Moha 164 has been upgraded to include a flywheel.
The headlights, taillights and forehead indicators of the leading car are lit with LEDs. There is also a switch to turn them off.
*The indicator on the lower part of the leading car's through door will not light up.
The sun-shaped symbol in the center of the side of Moha 164 is reproduced by printing with special ink.
The dimensions and scale of the markings on each part of the vehicle have been revised after re-examining the documents.
The grey colour of the rooftop parts, skirt, etc. has been revised.
