Product Description
The ES44AC is the successor to the AC4400CW and is equipped with an AC motor, boasting an output of 4,400 horsepower.
The ES in ES44AC stands for Evolution Series, a series of diesel-electric locomotives developed by GE Transportation Systems.
To comply with the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Tier 2 emissions regulations for rail vehicles, the aircraft was developed over a six-year period at a cost of $250 million, and the first production model was manufactured in 2003.
The traction motors are equipped with either DC or AC, depending on the railway operator's requirements.
The train is equipped with a GEVO 12-cylinder engine, which has the same power output as the FDL 16-cylinder engine that was the mainstream in GE locomotives in the past, while also reducing fuel consumption and environmental pollution.
