Product Description
Some new parts
This limited edition kit adds resin parts to the popular 1/24 Spitfire, also popular in Japan.
After the Normandy landings, irregular operations were frequently carried out to ship beer directly from the UK mainland to boost morale for soldiers on the front lines who were short on supplies.
Initially, disinfected and cleaned drop tanks were used as tanks, but as the taste of the beer deteriorated, they began transporting the beer in barrels with cones attached to them to reduce air resistance, suspending them under the wings.
This kit comes with new resin parts to recreate the aircraft used on this mission: two sake barrels, two nose cones for sake barrels, one set of bomb racks, and a slipper-type drop tank.
Also included as bonus parts are a pre-cut canopy masking sheet and a pint glass with a Spitfire design.
The kit comes with marking decals for three aircraft: the aircraft number [ML208] used to transport beer, the 611th Squadron aircraft used for escort missions for B-17 bombers in 1942, and the aircraft number [MJ349] involved in an overrun accident off Malta after the war.
