Introducing the completely new 1/48 scale T-60 light tank from Ukrainian GMU Models.
The T-60 is a light tank developed by the Soviet design bureau team led by Chief Engineer Astrov during World War II.
The T-60 is based on the chassis of the already-produced T-40 amphibious tank, but has been stripped of its amphibious capabilities and equipped with heavy armor and armament.
The T-60 was conceived as a temporary measure to replace the heavy losses suffered by the Red Army's tank units during German attacks, and was designed with a simple structure so that it could be produced in truck factories and other facilities that did not have the equipment to produce tanks.
Mass production began in the fall of 1941, and by the end of the same year, approximately 1,400 units had been produced, with approximately 5,500 units produced until production was discontinued in 1943.
Many of these vehicles were used for attack missions with mounted infantry on board, but this was not a role suited to light tanks, and they were easily destroyed along with other light tanks, earning them the dishonorable nickname "Tomb of the Two Brothers."
However, the T-60 continued to fight bravely despite suffering losses, and even after production ended, it continued to be used on major battlefields until 1944, playing an active role in urban warfare such as the Battle of Stalingrad.
This vehicle is known for taking advantage of its small size to sneak through tall grass and sneak up on German infantry, causing significant damage by surprise attacks. This injection-molded plastic kit includes numerous etched and 3D-printed parts, and the tracks are link-and-length.
Decals are also included for several captured Soviet and German vehicles.
