The Senseki Line is the only JR DC electrified section in the Tohoku region, connecting Aoba-dori to Sendai, Matsushima Kaigan and Ishinomaki. Since 2002, 205 series intermediate cars have been converted into leading cars, and former metropolitan area vehicles have been in service as four-car trains.
In 2003, a train was introduced with a wrapping on the train that belonged to Shotaro Ishinomori, a manga artist from Miyagi Prefecture.
Mangattan Liner I features Cyborg 009 and Robocon, and has a different wrapping than Mangattan Liner II.
Although there was a period of suspension due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, the service ceased operation on March 23, 2025, much to the regret of many.
