──In gratitude and respect for 88 years of history, JR Bus Kanto [Goodbye Suido Nishi Line] 2-unit set is now available

The JR Bus Kanto Suido-Nishi Line between Mogi, Sobui and Utsunomiya opened in 1937.
It was originally planned as a line connecting Mito and Utsunomiya, in line with the JNR's mission of "leading railway lines," and this is where the name "Suido" comes from.
The Mito side was the Suido East Line and the Utsunomiya side was the Suido West Line, with the border at Gozenyama (Akazawa) in Ibaraki Prefecture, but the Mito side was abolished in 1980.
The Suido-Nishi Line's mission was then to directly connect the Moka Railway Line with the Tohoku Main Line (a short-circuit on the railway line), and to encourage the use of Utsunomiya Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen, it was transformed into an urban route with many local buses and the last bus running until after 9 p.m.
However, with the opening of the Utsunomiya Light Rail in August 2023, the line will no longer serve its role of connecting Utsunomiya and Haga Town, and in recent years the number of services to JR Utsunomiya Station has decreased, with only a small number remaining in the morning and evening.
On September 30, 2025, the Suido-Nishi Line, Tochigi Prefecture's leading long-distance route, will be discontinued, and JR buses will disappear from Utsunomiya Station and Motegi Station.
To show our gratitude and respect for this historic line, we are releasing a set of two buses: the Hino Blue Ribbon City, which was used on the 18:01 trip from Sakushin Gakuen-mae via JR Utsunomiya Station to Motegi Station on the final day of the Suitosai Line, and the Nishiko 96MC, which was used on the 7:25 trip from Motegi Station to Sakushin Gakuen-mae via JR Utsunomiya Station, along with a special sticker featuring a bus mask and destination sign that reads, "Thank you for 88 years."
