Product Description
Planet Models, Special Hobby's resin kit brand, is pleased to announce the new 1/48 scale Renard R-31 reconnaissance aircraft.
The Renard R-31 is a parasol-type monoplane fixed-gear aircraft powered by a 487 horsepower Rolls-Royce Kestrel engine.
This aircraft was developed by the G. Renard Aviation Company in response to a request from the Belgian Air Force for a short-range reconnaissance/direct support aircraft, and the prototype made its first flight in 1932.
When the mass production order was issued in 1934, Renard and SABCA produced them, and in 1935 32 R-31s were delivered to the Belgian Air Force.
It was used for frontline reconnaissance during the German invasion of Belgium in 1940 and was the only Belgian-designed and manufactured aircraft to take part in World War II.
The kit includes resin parts (fuselage, wings, etc.), 3D printed parts, and decals for the 11th and 9th Squadrons of the Belgian Air Force.
