Noto Railway is a third-sector railway company established in 1987 and began commercial operations in 1988.
The railway currently operates the Nanao Line, which connects Nanao and Anamizu in Ishikawa Prefecture, and runs along the coastline of Nanao Bay.
The railway's NT200 series was introduced in 2005 to replace the NT100 series carriages that had been in operation since the railway's opening.
The body of the car has a design in which the front step part is bent inward, and the taillights are vertical.
In August 2024, one NT200 train from the railway began operating as the "POKEMON with YOU Train" to bring energy and smiles to the children of Noto who were affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred in January 2024.

The head mark features Pikachu and Plusle/Minan, reproduced with separate parts.
