[About the actual device]
The RQ-4B Global Hawk is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by the United States and put into service in 2006.
The uniquely shaped nose houses a satellite communications antenna, while the fuselage is equipped with electro-optical/infrared sensors, synthetic aperture radar, and other technologies.
Equipped with a single turbofan engine, it boasts the capability for autonomous navigation at high altitudes for extended periods, with a flight range of approximately 36 hours and a maximum altitude of approximately 60,000 feet.
Currently in service with the U.S. Air Force and Navy, it has also been introduced by NATO, Germany, South Korea, and Japan.
The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has three RQ-4B aircraft deployed to the Provisional Reconnaissance Air Squadron at Misawa Air Base.
