Product Description
The Iowa-class battleships were the last class of battleships built by the United States and were the last battleships of any nation to be retired.
Iowa was the lead ship of the Iowa-class battleships and the fourth ship to bear this name; the ship's name is derived from the state of Iowa.
Commissioned in 1943 and having served in World War II, this ship repeatedly went into reserve and returned to active service. In the 1980s, it underwent a major modernization refit, including the installation of missiles and close-in weapon systems (CIWS), updated electronics, and the addition of a flight deck at the stern.
The USS Iowa, which was decommissioned in 2006, is now open to the public as a museum.
The kit consists of an injection-molded plastic body. The [Standard Edition] includes decals, while the [Deluxe Edition] includes the same contents as the [Standard Edition] plus additional parts such as photo-etched parts, metal gun barrels, wooden deck sheets, and deck mask stickers.
This is a superb kit that recreates the 1944 Iowa as a waterline model with delicate detail.
*This kit is a waterline model.
