Yesterday, HOBBY SEARCH staff paid a visit to the hugest hottest hobby show in Japan.
Yes, you've guessed it right! The 48th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2009!!
Today's blog is going to be a brief report on this great annual event that attracts literally
tens of thousands of hobby fans from all over the world.
I hope that this report will help you get a sense of the exciting atmosphere.
First to introduce to you is the greatest first step of mankind.
1/70 Spaceship Apollo 
The theme of the music "Thus Spake Zarathustra" from the SF film "2001: A Space Odyssey" pops into mind, right?
This is a precisely scaled-down replica of the Spaceship Apollo that landed on the moon in July, 1969.
The then cutting-edge technology that made this groundbreaking journey possible was something that would be considered low-tech on today's standard.
It brings home to me just how fast science technology is advancing and how much you can accomplish so long as you have passions.
A very powerful presentation, isn't it?
This is how the moon lander looks when completed with the parabolic antennas, the gilded landing gears and the two astronauts donned in moon suits.
I for one can hardly wait for the release of this superb item!

This must be heavy, but what in the world is it?
Well, this is a metal cutting machine tool called a "machining center." I must confess that I am no expert in the field of metal industry, but I hear this gigantic gadget is a very versatile one.
The amazing thing about this item, however, is in fact its inside. Take a look!
The mechanical structure inside the machine is replicated to an incredible level of reality.
I remember I was deeply impressed when I saw a footage at youtube that showed a similar sort of machine carving out a V8 engine.
How a singular machine can create something as complicated as a car engine is simply beyond me.

F1 Mclaren Honda MP4/6 JapanGP
When you put Honda and Mclaren together, you don't need anything else.
The news about the legendary Ayrton Senna getting killed in an accident certainly sent a shockwave way beyond the circle of F1 enthusiasts.
One could safely say that he represents the landmark of formula one racing.
Truly saddening is the fact that Honda is backing down from this summit of motor sports.
As a Japanese, I cannot help but hope for a very successful future for Toyota. We are believing in you, Trulli!!
