--Model change 500 series! 205 series Sagami Line

- In 1985 (Showa 60), JNR introduced the 205 series as a new generation commuter train. The 205 series was the first JNR to have a lightweight stainless steel car body and adopted field additive excitation control. Even after the privatization of JNR, the 205 series was manufactured to replace older vehicles. In 1991 (Heisei 3), 13 205 series four-car trains were placed in the Toyota Electric Railway District for the opening of electrification of the Sagami Line. The front shape was asymmetrical and innovative, and changes such as a semi-automatic function on the passenger door and the installation of a skirt were made, and it was newly classified into the 500 series. Other minor improvements have been made, such as making the side lights smaller and making the ventilator unpainted stainless steel. Since its introduction, it has been used between Chigasaki and Hashimoto, and has also been seen running directly to Hachioji during rush hours. Since 2009 (Heisei 21), pantographs have been gradually replaced with single-arm types.
