--The O-1 is a military type of a light aircraft [Cessna 170] manufactured by Cessna of the United States, and was used as a liaison aircraft and an observation aircraft.
-Nicknamed Birddog, before the unification of the three military aircraft in 1962, the Army aircraft was called L-19 and the Marine Corps aircraft was called OE.
--The Ground Self-Defense Force received a loan of L-19A from the US Army and used it as a liaison aircraft, but Fuji Heavy Industries obtained a license from Cessna and mass-produced it as L-19E.
