── JR West 103 series sky blue for life extension work

[Actual vehicle guide]
- Series 103 is a DC commuter train that appeared in 1963.
- 3447 cars were manufactured until 1984 after repeated model changes.
-The headlights of the first improved car with the side windows changed to unit sashes and the headlights of the new air-conditioned car were equipped with oval-shaped shield beams while having a low cab.
-Some of the vehicles belonging to JR West have buried the door pocket windows and end side windows to prevent corrosion and simplify window cleaning.
-From 1992 to 1998, life-extending N40 construction was applied mainly to new air-conditioned vehicles, and the exterior changed significantly, such as replacing the side windows with black sashes.
- Since the vehicles that received life extension work were used in common with other vehicles, there were often cases where the shape did not match within the train set.
