[Actual vehicle guide]
-The EF81 type 450s are locomotives that appeared in 1991 for increasing the number of freight trains passing through the Kanmon Tunnel, and are equipped with multiple general control for operation in the Kanmon Tunnel.
-The 451 and 452 cars manufactured in 1991 are characterized by their lights being housed in an integrated rectangular case, but the 453 to 455 cars manufactured the following year have the same lights as the other EF81 types. changed to placement
- Initially, it was used in the section including the Kanmon Tunnel between Honshu and Kyushu, and was also used to tow freight trains and some sleeper limited express trains.
- After the operation in the Kanmon Tunnel section was replaced with the EH500 type, it is used for towing freight trains in Kyushu.
