──SL Galaxy is now available from TOMIX! New production of C58-239

- C58-239 was revived from static storage for the operation of SL trains on the Kamaishi Line as a reconstruction project from the Great East Japan Earthquake, and is now used on the [SL Ginga] between Hanamaki and Kamaishi.
- SL Galaxy is scheduled to end its service in the spring of 2023 due to the aging of the passenger cars used.

[Actual vehicle guide]
- The C58 type was introduced in 1938 as a freight and passenger locomotive to replace the 9600 type freight locomotive and the 8620 type passenger locomotive manufactured in the Taisho era.
- In addition to being used on local lines throughout Japan, including Hokkaido and Shikoku, similar machines were also manufactured for private railways and Sakhalin.
- In the Tohoku region, the C58 type was used on many lines such as the Rikuu East Line, Rikuu West Line, Yamada Line, and Hachinohe Line, which branch off from the Tohoku Main Line.
- C58 type 239 was manufactured in 1940, and was initially used in the Kansai area such as Inazawa and Nara locomotive depots, but was transferred to Miyako locomotive depot in 1943, and has since been used in the Tohoku area until scrapped, and finally in Hachinohe. It was used in the engine depot until 1972.
- The same aircraft towed the last steam locomotive train on the Yamada Line in 1970.
- After the car was scrapped, it was stored in a static state at Iwate Prefectural Sports Park, but as part of the recovery efforts from the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, it was decided to restore its dynamic state, and in 2012 it was brought to the Omiya General Vehicle Center for restoration work. was carried out.
- In 2014, restoration work was completed and the car's registration was restored, and since then it has been affiliated with the Morioka Rolling Stock Center and has been active as a towing machine for the [SL Ginga] operated on the Kamaishi Line.
- [SL Galaxy] is scheduled to end its service in the spring of 2023 due to the aging of the Kiha 141 series used as passenger cars.

- Reproduce the C58 steam locomotive with a new production!
- Reproduces the only JNR steam locomotive with a 1C1 prairie type shaft arrangement, which has driving wheels that are one size smaller than the C55 and C57 types.
- Painting and printing reproduce the appearance immediately after the start of operation in 2014, with no decoration on the runboard, chimney, or cylinder.
- The cab windows and door windows are recreated in an open state based on the image of operation, and the armrests are reproduced with molds.
- When restoring the dynamics, we reproduced the newly manufactured snow plow for ATS installation, the heavy oil tank installed in the tender, and the relocated water supply cap.
- The front headlight is a sealed beam LP405 type, and the tender light is a large LP403 type.

[Special notes/precautions]
- How to remove the tender steam locomotive: This product is made with great precision to reproduce the form of the actual vehicle. Please refer to the instructions and illustrations on the package and carefully remove the product, being careful not to damage any parts.
- The minimum passing curve radius of the vehicle is 280mm. Enjoy driving on curved rails with this radius or more.
- If you use the spring point function of the point rail and enter the point from the branched side that is not the opening direction, you may derail.
- When shipped from the factory, this product has partitions on the locomotive deck and inside the cab to prevent damage. Be sure to remove it when driving etc. Also, remove the partition inside the cab by pulling out the tender section horizontally, and then remove it. When doing so, be careful not to damage the coupler.
