- In the early 1920s, the Austrian Federal Railways needed a locomotive for the steep slopes of the Albergbahn. bottom.
- 1st car built in 1923, 16 more in 1927.
- Some were destroyed in World War II, but the remaining vehicles were inherited as OBB1089, OBB1189.
