[Actual vehicle guide]
- The HC85 series is a hybrid vehicle that was announced in 2019 as a replacement vehicle for the limited express trains [Hida] and [Nanki] operated by the Kiha 85 series, and has started test runs.
- The same series uses a hybrid system, which uses electricity generated by the engine and electricity stored in the storage battery to drive the motor, reducing environmental impact.
- A mass-produced vehicle will appear in 2022, and commercial operation will begin as the limited express [Hida] in July 2022 and the limited express [Nanki] in July 2023.
- Similar to the Kiha 85 series, which ended regular service at [Hida] in March 2023 and [Nanki] in June 2023, the series will be operated from a minimum of 2 car formations to a maximum of 10 car formations. Flexible composition to suit
