--The Suha 44 series express train [Hatsukari] that ran between Ueno and Aomori

- The Suha 44 series express train "Hatsukari" was introduced in 1958 as the first express train in the Tohoku region, running between Ueno and Aomori via the Joban Line.
- The 44 Series passenger cars used on the Hatsukari were beautifully painted in blue No. 15 with two thin lines of cream No. 1, imitating the 20 Series Blue Train.
However, its time as a passenger express train was short-lived, as it ended in 1960 and was replaced by the first express diesel car, the Kiha 81 series, and its service lasted only two years.
