Product Description
[About the actual car]
These are OhaUni 71, Suni 75, Mani 74 and Mani 76, which were converted into baggage cars using Oha 70 and Oha 71, passenger cars restored from war damage.
From the 1950s onwards, the poorly equipped 70 series passenger cars were converted into baggage cars and put into active use.
From the 1960s onwards, the company was busy increasing the number of 10 series passenger cars and Mani 60s, and by 1969 all of the cars had either been converted into rescue cars or scrapped.
The rescued cars sat in a corner of the depot for a long time, but many of them were dismantled during a vehicle reorganization project at the end of JNR's existence.
This car is a highlight of the old passenger trains.
The Ohauni 71 is also famous for being attached between the C11 and 80 series trains as a control car for the semi-express Kusatsu train that ran on the non-electrified Agatsuma Line.
