[Actual vehicle guide]
The Kinuura Rinkai Railway KE65 class is the same type of locomotive as the JNR DE10 class, of which four cars, No. 1 to No. 5, were manufactured at the time of the opening of the line.
In 1984, the No. 2 and No. 5 locomotives were sold, but due to the subsequent increase in freight traffic, two former JNR DE10s were introduced in 1990, becoming the second generation No. 2 and No. 5 locomotives.
Currently, the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 locomotives are in service with the railway, and the No. 1 and No. 3 locomotives, newly manufactured for the Kinuura Rinkai Railway, are characterized by the different shapes of various parts, such as the radiator cover on the bonnet and the cab roof, from the No. 5 locomotive.
