Product Description
[Product Introduction]
The 787 series [36 Plus 3] is JR Kyushu's 12th D&S (Design & Story) train, and was developed by modifying one 787 series train and entering service in October 2020.
It operates from Thursday to Monday, traveling counterclockwise around the seven prefectures of Kyushu, and is a tourist express train that can be boarded on each section of the route each day.
As part of the conversion, the entire interior and exterior was redesigned, and the exterior now has a glossy black paint job with gold decorations, which is a departure from the image of the existing 787 series.
In addition, the train places more importance on the value of the riding experience itself rather than just looking at the scenery outside the windows, and is characterized by windows that make extensive use of paper screens, all cars being Green Cars, and interiors that make use of wood grain throughout.
The buffet has also been revived for the first time in 17 years on a 787 series train, selling drinks, snacks, souvenirs and merchandise.
The popular tourist train 36 Plus 3, which began operation in October 2020, travels throughout Kyushu over a five-day period, encountering a variety of trains in each location.
You can enjoy it together with other vehicles that are in use in the Kyushu region, such as the 10-2047/2048 813 series 2200 series, scheduled for release in July 2025, and the 10-1952 885 series (2nd batch) <Around the Kyushu>, scheduled for release in August of the same year.
