Product Description
Modelsbit is pleased to announce a new product, the 1/72 Mirage G8.02 prototype single-seat variable-wing interceptor.
The Mirage G8 is an interceptor aircraft designed and manufactured by the French company Dassault in the 1960s.
The production version of this aircraft was planned to be equipped with two M53 engines, but the prototype was built with the Atar 9K50 engine.
The first prototype (G8.01) made its maiden flight in May 1971, and in 1973 the second prototype (G8.02) recorded a speed of Mach 2.34, the fastest in Europe at the time.
However, the project was cancelled due to rising costs caused by the complexity of the variable wing mechanism and the worsening economic situation caused by the first oil crisis.
- New mold parts are used to recreate the single-seat G8.02.
- The kit includes injection plastic AS-37 Mater anti-radar missiles and pylons (x2), etched parts, paint mask stickers, two types of canopies (open/closed), and one French Air Force Cartograf decal.
- The main wings can be displayed in either fully opened or retracted position.
-When completed, the total length will be approximately 280mm and the total width (with the main wings fully extended) will be approximately 213mm.
