Product Description

The final Suzuya full hull type from October 1944 was commercialized with a new mold.

[Basic specifications]
This is an unpainted kit that requires assembly and painting.
- Scale is 1/700, full hull specification including the bottom of the ship
・This product is made up of a conventional (special series) mold and a newly added mold.
・The underwater section will be manufactured in 2025, and the offshore section will be manufactured in 2019 using molds designed for the product.

[Product Specifications]
The product is based on the Mogami-class third ship [Suzuya] during Operation Sho-Ichi-Go (Battle of Leyte Gulf) in October 1944.
- The cross-sectional shape of the hull is different from that of the Mogami/Mikuma, and special parts are used to recreate the appearance of the ship equipped with machine guns and radar that were modified from the time of the start of the war.

[Hull]
- The hull parts with inclined sides (middle deck level) of the late Mogami-class ships [Suzuya and Kumano] are exclusive items.
→The cross-sectional shape of the side is a special mold part that is different from the previous Mogami and Mikuma models.
→ The width of the anti-aircraft gun deck is 1.0 mm (on the model) narrower than that of the Mogami/Mikuma.
→ The outer electrical wiring is molded integrally with the hull, expressing a running shape different from that of the Mogami/Mikuma.
・The portholes were closed based on lessons learned from wartime experience.
→Reproduced using a special mold prepared separately from the heavy cruiser Mogami class, including the Suzuya from 1941 to 1942
-Separate parts for left and right

[bridge]
-Transparent parts for the bridge windows for a more realistic finish
- Bridge structure parts exclusive to Suzuya/Kumano, which has a boiler room air intake on the side of the bridge, are used.
- The floors of the air defense command post and compass bridge are carved with delicate grating.
- The air defense command post comes with a binocular telescope part that adds a sense of precision just by attaching it.
- The machine gun turrets added to the front of the bridge are provided as special parts, recreating the differences from the 1942 version.
The front mast is a special part for Suzuya that reproduces the individual ship's characteristics of height and crossbeam height.
→ Equipped with one No. 21 radar, two No. 22 radars and an E27 radar.
→ Radar No. 22 is a very small and realistic model that pursues a sense of scale.

[Equipment/Central section]
・Suzuya is equipped with the same 10 boilers as Kumano, and has a thin chimney
→ A dedicated part that is different from the type with a thick front flue for Mogami and Mikuma is included.
-Funnel cap is a molded part in a [detached state]
- Steam exhaust pipe is designed as a separate part to enhance precision

・The air intake behind the chimney (under the searchlight) uses parts exclusive to Suzuya/Kumano
The linoleum deck is provided with special parts because the placement of ventilation pipes and equipment is different from that of the Mogami/Mikuma.
The 12.7cm twin anti-aircraft gun mount is a special part for the Suzuya/Kumano, and there is a protrusion on the back of the mount.

- The torpedo tubes are specially developed for heavy cruisers, separate from those used on the existing aircraft carrier Mogami.
- Torpedo tube position can be selected and reproduced in any direction.
→Can reproduce the normal state along the bow and tail line, as well as the rotated firing position

- The shelter where the torpedo tubes are installed is three-dimensionally modeled based on the official drawings, including the spare torpedo storage area.
- The floor features a strip pattern that is reproduced with delicate, high-quality engraving.

- The catapult (Kure Type 2, Model 5) uses a slide mold to realistically reproduce the side and top shapes.
・The flight deck has an air intake located slightly forward in the center, which was not present on the Mogami/Mikuma.

[Outfittings/stern side]
The rear mast is a Suzuya-specific part that reproduces the ship's individual characteristics of the crossbeam height.
-Special parts equipped with No. 13 radar on the tripod, which is different from the 1942 version.
The rear mast is a Y-shaped, inclined top, exclusive to the Suzuya, and is reproduced with a radar room.
- Crane parts different from Kumano, featuring lighter hole shapes with precise carving expression

- Additional machine gun turret parts are provided for the rear bridge and stern.
-Special parts are provided on the sides of the rear bridge to recreate the air intakes that are different from those on the Mogami.
The antenna support columns installed on the 3rd and 4th main gun turret canopies are special parts that reproduce the unique shapes of each ship.

[Equipment/Armament]
- The main gun barrel elevation angle is fixed, but the turret can be rotated even after completion.
- 25mm machine guns (triple/double/single) come with precision machine gun parts with the barrel and gun mount separated.
→ The molding color is warship blue for the base and gunmetal for the barrel.
→When painting, after painting each color, you can assemble the runners and glue them together for easy painting.

[Bottom]
- The bottom of the ship is a one-piece structure
- The side bulges are made into parts below the waterline, while the hull bulges above the waterline are expressed as one with the hull.
-Realistic representation of the shape of the shaft bracket and the curved shape of the eddy plate
- The thickness of the rudder mounting part is reproduced, and the surface of the balanced twin rudders is engraved for a three-dimensional design.
- Water supply and drainage ports are carved into the bottom of the ship
- The bilge keel is integrated with the bulge, and the bulge reproduces the larger external shape after performance improvements.

[Carriage-based aircraft]
- Includes two Zero (three-seat) seaplane reconnaissance aircraft and one Zero observation aircraft
- The molding color is gray to improve workability (to prevent damage when cutting the gate).

[Included decals]
- Two types of decals are included.
- One decal sheet containing markings such as the naval ensign, national flag, and the Japanese flag for aircraft carriers.
→ Naval ensigns and other items are available in three sizes. The actual dimensions are 10cm wide, 6cm wide, and 3cm wide, all in 1/700 scale.
→ Includes the Hinomaru flag of carrier-based aircraft, friendly identification bands (yellow bands), etc. The Hinomaru flag also includes the one without the white border from the latter half of the war.
- One decal sheet containing the stern ship name, white line for the rear mast, draft mark, etc.
→ The stern ship name is painted in gold or battleship color.
