[Product overview]
The JR 213 series 5000 series is a model that has been manufactured since 1989.
Based on the 211 series, the cars have a stainless steel body with two double-doors and orange and green stripes, and the seats are convertible cross seats except at the ends of the cars.
There are differences depending on the manufacturing period, and the second batch of cars manufactured after 1990 have enlarged side direction signs and speakers installed inside the rooftop cooler.
When it was first introduced, it was stationed at the Ogaki Depot and operated on the Kansai Main Line and Tokaido Main Line of the JR Central section.
In 2011, after undergoing renovations such as the installation of toilets and semi-automatic doors, the trains began operating on the Iida Line, replacing the 119 series.
