The Kwantung Army was a military force that originated from the security forces that guarded the Kwantung Leased Territory (the tip of the Liaodong Peninsula) and the South Manchuria Railway (Mantetsu) area of China, which were inherited from the Russian Empire following Japan's victory in the Russo-Japanese War.
Initially, the unit was small in size after its formation, but through repeated expansions and reinforcements, it reached a peak strength of nearly 800,000 soldiers.
In the Nomonhan Incident, units under the command of the Kwantung Army played a central role, with over 20,000 soldiers engaging in fierce battles against the Soviet army.
This kit recreates four soldiers in combat wearing the so-called Showa 5th year uniform, a type of uniform with a stand-up collar that was standardized in 1930 and was still commonly seen during the Nomonhan Incident.
The military uniform was measured from actual items in our company's collection, and the way the gaiters were tied was also accurately reproduced.
The rifle, helmet, and other accessories were precisely reproduced using a laser processing machine.
Decals for rank insignia and collar insignia are included.
