[About the actual device]
The main fighter aircraft, the F-15J Eagle, is based on the U.S. Air Force's F-15C, which began operational deployment in 1974, but has been equipped with unique features by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, including its own tactical electronic warfare system, J/TEWS, and its own data link system.
Deployment to units began in 1982, and it continues to play a leading role in the air defense of Japan's skies.
The 201st Squadron, originally formed in 1963 as an F-104 fighter squadron, was one of the units operating the F-15J. Although it was temporarily disbanded, it was reorganized in 1986 as an F-15J fighter squadron.
In 2026, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of our reorganization.
At the commemorative ceremony held at Chitose Air Base on March 20, a specially painted aircraft featuring an illustration of a brown bear was created and unveiled.

[About the model]
This model is a plastic model assembly kit that recreates the commemorative painted aircraft produced by the 201st Squadron to coincide with the 40th anniversary of its reorganization as an F-15J fighter squadron in March 2026. The model is based on Platz's 1/72 Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15J Eagle, which has already garnered high praise from aircraft model enthusiasts.
The aircraft with registration number 82-8901, belonging to the 201st Squadron at Chitose Air Base, was painted with a brown bear motif.
The illustration of the brown bear's profile on the nose of the aircraft, the illustrations on the left and right vertical stabilizers, and the commemorative lettering on the tanks will all be represented using waterslide decals.
Of course, the aircraft's shape is impressive, but the details of the landing gear, engine exhausts, and cockpit are also realistically reproduced and not to be missed.
