[About the actual vehicle]
As the German army's vehicles became more heavily armored in the latter half of World War II, the American military also began developing new vehicles to enhance its offensive capabilities.
Within that context, development of a self-propelled artillery piece equipped with a 90mm anti-aircraft gun began.
A new self-propelled gun was developed, featuring a newly designed turret equipped with a 50-caliber 90mm tank gun M3, which was a modified 90mm anti-aircraft gun converted into a tank gun, replacing the 76.2mm tank gun already in service with the M10 anti-tank self-propelled gun.
Production began in April 1944, and it was officially adopted as the M36 anti-tank self-propelled gun in June.
Subsequently, to compensate for the shortage of base vehicles, a vehicle was also manufactured that combined the M4A3 tank chassis with an open-top, fully rotating turret equipped with this 90mm gun.
It was officially adopted under the name M36B1, and nearly 200 units were produced starting in 1944.

[About the model]
This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit that recreates the M36B1, one of the anti-tank self-propelled guns deployed and operated by the U.S. military during World War II.
This model accurately reproduces the distinctive features of the M36B1 type, which combines the M4A3 chassis with an open-top turret. The finished length is 213mm. The lower hull is made up of separate front and rear panels to accurately model the shape and details.
The suspension system mechanically reproduces the unique mechanism of the M4A3 Sherman tank hull. The upper part of the hull features separate parts for hatches and onboard tools, providing a realistic and detailed three-dimensional representation.
The turret that will be attached to the vehicle body is an open-top turret, and its shape and internal mechanisms have been modeled. I'm looking forward to seeing the mechanically detailed finish.
The tracks utilize a matching belt system for easy assembly.
