--Since 2002, the E231 series 500 series, which will be the successor to the Yamanote Line, has been introduced, and various modifications such as remodeling the leading car, semi-automated doors, and VVVF have been carried out and transferred to various places.
--As of 2021, it has retired from major lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area due to the introduction of the E233 series, and only a few remain on the Tsurumi Line, Sagami Line, Tohoku Main Line, Senseki Line, etc.
