――The 200 series is a vehicle developed for the Tohoku Shinkansen, which opened in 1982.
――The cold and snow resistant structure has been strengthened to respond to the climate of the operating area, and it is equipped with a body mount structure that covers the entire underfloor equipment and a snow cutting room that separates snow so that snow does not enter the cooling air blower.
--Due to the renewal remodeling carried out from 1999, the frontal shape was changed mainly around the driver's cab and the exterior paint was changed to light gray with blue and green bands, and it continued to play an active part in combination with the 400 series.
